Human Resources Operational Adjustments

As July 12, 2021, the Department of Human Resources is back to on-site work during normal business hours (M-F 8-5) with on-site staffing to service the needs of our customers. HR will also continue to offer virtual services at the request of customers.

Appointments & Walk-ins

The department resumed walk-ins on July 12, 2021 at which time 1Card access to the HR building was reinstated for all ECU employees from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.  In order to ensure customer requests are quickly and efficiently addressed, we would recommend reaching out to the HR consultant and/or unit you need to speak with and schedule an appointment. Certain safety measures will remain in place until further notice, including wearing a mask and availability of hand-sanitizing stations.

University Leadership has released comprehensive guidance surrounding the use of campus facilities and workplace safety as we prepare to return to normal operations in Fall 2021. HR employees should review this guidance prior to their return to campus. The guidance speaks to working together to keep Pirate nation safe for a successful Fall 2021 semester which must be modeled as HR professionals. Please refer to the ECU Community Expectations regularly as it will be updated in accordance with the local, state and federal guidance as needed is subject to frequent change as the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold.

In accordance with the above guidance, the department will take the following steps to help ensure safe employee and visitor behaviors while in the buildings:

  • Hand sanitizer and/or disinfecting wipes will remain in public areas, particularly those that are frequently trafficked.
  • Plexiglass will remain at the front reception area in Building 127.
  • Supplies of disposable masks disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, and other similar items will continue to be readily available.

Please be aware that this list is not exhaustive and will likely be adjusted as the situation dictates.

Visitors (Employees and Non-employees)

Visitors are expected to comply with ECU’s Community Expectations regarding COVID-19 and should be informed prior to any visit to an HR building of their obligations, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Bringing with and wearing a face covering during the duration of their visit and/or attending new employee orientation or a training in HR building or HR annex (the department will have a very limited supply of disposable masks that can be provided in extenuating situations).
  • Cancelling an appointment if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or were possibly exposed to someone with COVID-19.

In the event a visitor refuses to comply with any of the above requirements (and/or any other reasonable COVID-19 best practices), they will be asked to return at another time when they can comply with these safety measures.
