Kronos Upgrade to Flash Free Version 8.1.7

The ECU Kronos Team is excited to announce ECU’s Kronos Workforce Central (WFC) environment will be upgrading to version 8.1.7 on November 5th at 6PM. This upgraded version will no longer use Adobe Flash, as most internet browsers will be discontinuing support of Adobe Flash by the end of the calendar year. Kronos users will find that Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Chrome are still compatible with Kronos 8.1.7.

The Kronos software upgrade is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm on November 5, 2020 and be completed by 5:00 pm on November 6, 2020. The Kronos application at Kronos.ecu.edu will not be available for access during this maintenance downtime window. Kronos timeclocks will be accessible and can be used to record punches during the upgrade.

Recorded punches via the Timeclocks will be uploaded into the upgraded environment when the system comes back online on Friday, November 6th.

For nonexempt employees unable to punch via a timeclock during this maintenance downtime window, an alternative method to record punches should be approved and utilized between the employee and supervisor/department. If you are unsure how to record your time or have questions related to this upgrade, please reach out to your supervisor or Kronos SuperAdmin.

Some acceptable methods to record punches are emails or paper timesheets provided from the employee to the Kronos supervisor/department for manual entry into Kronos after the upgrade downtime.

This Kronos upgrade does not modify your department’s adoption or usage of Kronos. Kronos remains the university’s system of record for time, attendance and leave. Your existing, established Kronos SOP document and departmental expectations, including payroll approval and sign-off deadlines remain in place and unchanged. The impact of this upgrade to departments will be minimal, with only small visual changes in the User Interface. Since many Kronos users will see no or minimal changes in Kronos due to this upgrade, no additional trainings or support is planned. The Kronos Upgrade 8.1.7 Job Aid shows the small visual and navigational changes in the User Interface of Kronos.

ITCS will send downtime reminders to campus a week prior to the scheduled downtime on October 29th and again the day of the initial downtime, November 5th. When the Kronos software upgrade is complete and the Kronos application is assessable, a notification will be sent to campus via ECU Official.
