Winter Holiday Break 2024

As we approach the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and winter break, we want to remind you that the University is closed on Thursday, November 28th, and Friday, November 29th for the Thanksgiving holiday. The University will also be closed for winter break starting on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, and continuing through Wednesday, January 1st, 2025.

During the winter break, ECU employees, excluding ECU Health Physicians Academic Practice (legacy ECU Physicians) employees scheduled to work as clinics remain open, will be required to use leave time for Monday, December 23rd, 2024, Monday, December 30th, 2024, and Tuesday, December 31st, 2024.  Employees will be able to use vacation, bonus leave, compensatory time, and personal observance leave for these three days.

Employees who choose to engage in any volunteer activities during normal work hours in accordance with the Community Service Leave Policy(the Policy) on December 23rd, December 30th, and December 31st, 2024, will be eligible to use Community Service Leave upon receipt of approval from their supervisor so long as it otherwise complies with the Policy (e.g., acceptable proof that leave is being utilized in accordance with the purpose of the Policy).

Please note that for the winter break, ECU Health Physicians Academic Practice (legacy ECU Physicians) will be closed on Tuesday, December 24th, Wednesday, December 25th, and Wednesday, January 1st, as these days are designated holidays. ECU Health Physicians Academic Practice will be open and operational on Monday, December 23rd, Thursday, December 26th, Friday, December 27th, Monday, December 30th, and Tuesday, December 31st.

Further detailed instructions on how to apply leave for December 23rd, December 30th, and December 31st will be sent to Kronos SuperAdmins.
